Allah, the almighty says: {And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive} Surat Al-insan: 8

1) We would like to appeal to you on behalf of our community members who are in desperate need of food.  Oftentimes these families rely solely on the weekly food bank to supply their homes with food so that their families can eat.  Many of these families are unemployed or underemployed.  Many go to bed without enough food to eat.  Without our weekly food bank they will suffer a serious food shortage in their homes.

2) Statistics show that 1 of every 2 children in the Washington, D.C. area will not eat even one nutritious meal today.  That means more than 200,000 youngsters in our region are in this category.  Our food bank staff distributes on a weekly basis over 1200 pounds of food.  However, the number of families who attend the food bank is growing on a weekly basis.  As a result we are currently suffering from a food shortage.  We need your support in the form of financial donations, canned goods, and non-perishable items such as rice, sugar, oil, flour, cereals, and meat. 

3) A weekly food bank is held offering assistance to the poor. We currently serve over 165 families in need. Each week the food bank is held on Thursdays from the hours of 9am until 12 noon.

4) A donation of $35 will help us give three meals a day for one week to a family of four. 

5) We need your support more than ever to help those most in need.

6) Please donate generously and give a gift of $10, $20, $30, or more if you can. It would be most greatly appreciated.
